Beliefs and Distinctives

Speak For The Unborn believes theology and methodology both matter. Below you can explore our beliefs and distinctives.

Affirmations Of Faith

We affirm that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inerrant Word of God given by the inspiration of the Spirit and are the only sufficient authority for faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16)

We affirm that there is but one God who eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person is distinct, but God is without division of nature, essence, or being. (John 1:1, Eph. 4:4-6)

We affirm that justification is by faith alone. Upon true profession of faith and repentance of sin, one is united to Christ and awarded all the blessings therein. (Rom. 3:24-25)

We affirm the autonomous authority of the local church, under the leadership of Scripturally qualified men serving as pastors/elders/overseers. (Eph. 4:11-16, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)

We affirm that though men and women are created in the image of God, they have rejected the authority of God as a result of their sin nature inherited from their father Adam. (Gen. 1:27, Rom. 5:12)

We affirm that Jesus, the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was crucified and was raised from the dead as the only savior of sinners and mediator between God and man. Having conquered death he is seated at the right hand of God the Father. (Is. 7:14, 1 Cor. 15:3-4, Col. 3:1, 1 Tim. 2:5)

We affirm the visible return of the Lord Jesus to earth upon which he will judge the living and the dead. (Acts 10:42, Rev. 1:7)

Gospel-Centered

Isa. 52:13 - 53:12, Mark 1:15, John 3:16, Rom. 3:23, 6:23, 2 Cor 5:21, Eph. 2:8-9

As a ministry of the local church, our foundation is the gospel of Jesus Christ. This message in its most basic form is that though we are separated from God because of our sin, God in his infinite mercy sent Jesus to die in the place of sinners. Whoever trusts in the finished work of Christ, walking in repentance, is reconciled to the Father with the promise of eternal life. It is by grace alone that one is saved. Because we are first committed to this message we seek to share it with all who do not believe, whether they be pro-life or pro-choice.

Compelled By Love

Prov. 31:8-9, Matt. 5:43; 22:37-39, Rom. 5:6-11

We are committed to speaking for our “unborn neighbors,” who cannot speak for themselves. Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Further, we are convinced that the way in which we can most love those pursuing abortions is to persuade them to save their children. We will weep with those who repent of having abortions and help them know the forgiveness and healing that can only be found in Christ. We will also encourage them to seek Christian counseling, because we believe in the healing power of the gospel and the sufficiency of the cross.

Gracious

Prov. 15:1, Rom. 2:4, Col. 4:6, 2 Tim. 2:25

As Christians, our speech must “always be gracious, seasoned with salt.” (Col. 4:6a) To be gracious means to be compassionate without compromising the truth. Our tone, body language, and word choice reflect this commitment. When we speak with those pursuing abortion, we respectfully urge them to repent of their sins and find true hope in the gospel. We want to prove ourselves trustworthy as we offer eternal help through the gospel and physical help through our local churches and other life-affirming organizations. We will never yell, intimidate, or act in any other way to harm another human being. Anyone who desires to partner with S4U must be willing to graciously speak the truth.
