Abortion is illegal in my area. Should we still partner?
Because of the prevalence of the abortion pill, every Christian needs to be equipped to boldly and compassionately speak on behalf of the unborn with their friends, neighbors, and family members. Churches also must be prepared to mentor parents who choose life, care for parents who are post-abortive, and welcome vulnerable families into Christian discipleship. This kind of church is needed in every state and province of North America. Regardless of the legality of abortion in your area, this is the perfect time to partner with Speak for the Unborn.
Can I still be involved if my church doesn’t partner?
Speak for the Unborn emphasizes partnership with local churches, and we want to encourage as much unity and fellowship as possible. However, if your church is unable to partner with Speak for the Unborn, contact us today to learn about other volunteer opportunities.
Can our church still partner if we don’t fully align with S4U’s beliefs or distinctives?
We require all S4U partner churches to agree with our statement of faith and our
methodology. However, we do still want to provide resources and training materials to any church that desires to use them. To learn more about the opportunities available to your church, contact us today.
Do buffer/bubble zones around abortion facilities prevent sidewalk counseling?
While buffer zones (around an abortion facility) and bubble zones (around individuals seeking abortions) may prevent some opportunities for evangelistic conversations, they do not negate the powerful effects of a church showing up and being present, as close as legally possible, outside an abortion facility. We’ll help your church create a custom plan to address the particular logistical difficulties at your area’s abortion facility.
Does S4U take a particular political stance on abortion?
We’re completely focused on equipping churches to engage the abortion culture with the hope of Christ. We do not take any particular political stance other than that we long to see abortion end in North America and around the world.
If our church already supports a pregnancy center, why should we partner with S4U?
Pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) provide vital services to moms and families. S4U is committed to undergirding their efforts as much as possible, especially in a culture that denigrates the sanctity of life. If a church isn’t already partnered with a PRC, S4U connects it with one in its community. If you work at a pregnancy care center and you’d like to be on our recommendation list, please reach out. We’d love to meet you!
Churches should partner with both PRCs and S4U, because S4U benefits both. S4U equips churches in ways pregnancy centers can’t, such as by providing evangelism training, outreach opportunities, practical ministry structures, youth group curricula, and more. By partnering with S4U, churches are equipped to better support the work that PRCs are doing in their communities, and see more babies rescued and souls saved. Additionally, S4U partner churches are able to more effectively provide longterm discipleship to the moms and families served by PRCs. S4U also complements PRCs’ work by connecting abortion-minded moms, activating more volunteers, and increasing and deepening church partnerships. We even invite PRC representatives to speak at our local trainings as part of our Next Steps segments. S4U seeks to be as much of a blessing to both churches and PRCs as possible, and it’s our joy to foster unity and cultivate connections in the body of Christ.
Does S4U encourage civil disobedience?
We require all Speak for the Unborn (S4U) representatives and volunteers to refrain from practicing civil disobedience (including “sit-ins” and “rescues”), and follow all applicable laws.
